Our New Website: Easier to Find, Compare and Buy Your Pu-erh

If you've shopped with us before, you may have noticed that cspuerh.com looks different. We rebuilt the site this autumn, and we built it around the questions tea drinkers bring to us: Which cakes are from Lao Ban Zhang? Do you have anything from 2016? Is this one raw or ripe? How do I brew it? Will shipping be free?

The teas, your account, your loyalty points and your reviews are all where you left them. What has changed is how quickly you can find what you're looking for, and how much you know before you add a cake to your cart. Here's a tour.

Find the tea you have in mind, in a few clicks

With more than 230 pu-erh teas in the shop, scrolling was the slowest way to find anything. Every collection page now has filters down the side, and the options are already open, so you can tick a box without opening a menu first:

• Type: raw (sheng) or ripe (shou) pu-erh
• Year: from 2006 through to this year's pressings
• Origin: Lao Ban Zhang, Ban Zhang, Na Ka, Yi Wu, Nan Nuo, Bing Dao, Bu Lang and more
• Single-origin / Blend: one mountain, or a blend
• Size: from 15g samples up to full 357g cakes and larger
• Price and Availability

Each filter shows its first five choices, and "Show more" opens the rest. Filters combine, so "raw, 2016, Lao Ban Zhang" is three clicks. The same filters work on search results.

Collection pages also open with the teas themselves. A short introduction sits under the title, and the full background on each collection has moved below the products, for when you want to read more.

Know what you're buying before you scroll

On every tea page, the details you need to decide now sit right next to the Add to cart button:

• Free shipping on orders over $70 USD
• Where the tea comes from
• Whether it is single-origin or a blend
• The age of the tea trees, for example "Old-arbor (gushu) trees, 300+ years old" on our Lao Ban Zhang cakes

Star ratings now sit under the tea's name, so you see what other tea drinkers thought before you see the price.

Below the description you'll find two new sections, so you don't have to go looking elsewhere:

• How to brew: gongfu and Western-style starting points (leaf amount, water temperature and steeping time), plus storage tips.
• Shipping & returns: where we ship from, how long processing takes, and our 15-day return policy, all in plain language.

At the bottom of each tea page, "You may also like" suggests related teas. On a 2019 Lao Ban Zhang page, for example, it suggests other Lao Ban Zhang vintages, which makes it easier to compare years side by side.

Shopping on your phone is easier

Many of you shop with us on a phone, so we spent extra time here.

The product photo, name, rating and price now fit on the first screen. The Add to cart button sits just below, and the loyalty-points button no longer covers it.

Pu-erh descriptions are long, and they should be: the mountain, the harvest and the tasting notes all matter. Before, once you'd read to the bottom, you had to scroll all the way back up to buy. Now a slim bar with the price and an Add to cart button stays at the bottom of the screen while you read.

On a phone, tap Filter/Sort on any collection page to open the same filters in a panel.

Clearer about what's in the cup

"Ancient tree" is a lovely phrase, but it doesn't tell you much on its own, so we now give the actual age of the trees wherever we can. Many of our teas are made from old-arbor (gushu) trees more than 100 years old, and our Lao Ban Zhang cakes from trees over 300 years old. We've also made other labels more precise. For example, our "Green Food Certified Teas" collection is now named for exactly what it is: teas that carry China's Green Food (绿色食品) certification.

A calmer, easier-to-read design

The new look takes its cue from the tea itself: warm rice-paper tones, deep gold and the red of a tea seal. We've also used clearer type and stronger colour contrast, so prices, buttons and reviews are easier to read for everyone. The homepage opens with a photo of the old tea gardens instead of a video, so it loads faster on slower connections. Our brand film now lives on the About Us page.

What hasn't changed

• The same teas, from the same gardens, at the same prices.
• Your account, order history and order tracking.
• Your Cspuerh Club loyalty points and rewards.
• Every customer review. Nothing was lost in the move.
• Checkout, payment options and free shipping on orders over $70 USD.
• The menu: Tea, Teaware, About Us, Tea Education and Wholesale are where they always were.
