2026 Xi Gui Raw Pu-erh Tea
Orchid Fragrance · Honeyed Sweetness · The Spirit of Xi Gui 昔归
The 2026 Xi Gui Raw Pu-erh Tea brings the distinctive character of Lincang’s riverside tea gardens to Chen Sheng Hao’s Famous Mountain Tea Series. Selected from first-spring old-tree material from Mang Lu Mountain, Xi Gui Village, this pure-origin tea combines expressive fragrance with a remarkably soft, fine-textured liquor and a lingering sweet finish.
It is the sixth and final release in the brand’s 2026 Famous Mountain Tea Series, following Ma Li Po, Kunlu Shan, Jing Mai Shan, Xi Niu Tang, and Bing Dao.
Riverside Terroir · An Exceptional Low-Elevation Origin
On the eastern extension of Lincang’s Da Xue Mountain, near the Lancang River, Xi Gui’s ancient tea gardens grow at approximately 750–1,000 meters above sea level. The river, warm and humid valley climate, and changing temperatures help shape a growing environment with a character of its own.
The tea gardens’ red soils are rich in organic matter, while tea trees grow among native trees in a mixed forest landscape. This combination of soil, climate, and ecology contributes to Xi Gui’s fragrant, sweet, and deeply expressive style.
忙麓正山 · First-Spring Old-Tree Pure Material
For this release, Chen Sheng Hao selects single-origin tea leaves from the first spring harvest on Mang Lu Mountain, in Xi Gui Village, Lincang. The leaves are crafted into a 357g raw Pu-erh cake, preserving the origin’s distinctive aroma and mountain character.
Xi Gui is also known for Teng Tiao, a traditional method of tending and pruning tea trees. Rather than a separate tea variety, the term describes the long, slender branches shaped by this practice. Selective leaf retention and pruning encourage light and airflow around the new growth.
蜜韵兰香 · Orchid Aroma & Honeyed Sweetness
The fragrance is high and persistent, with orchid notes and a delicate rock-sugar aroma that linger in the cup. Beneath this expressive aroma, the liquor feels soft, smooth, and finely textured.
An initial bitterness and a touch of astringency give way quickly to a strong Hui Gan — returning sweetness — and a mouthwatering sensation along the cheeks and beneath the tongue. The finish is lasting, with sweetness continuing through successive infusions.

Enjoy Now or Store for the Future
Enjoy its fresh orchid fragrance, gentle texture, and vivid returning sweetness today, or store it under suitable conditions to follow its development over time. The producer describes sustained sweetness after fifteen infusions and notes that aged Xi Gui can develop a characteristic mushroom-like aroma; brewing performance and aging results will vary.
Gongfu style (recommended)
About 5–7 g of leaf in a 100–120 ml gaiwan or small teapot, with water just off the boil (100 °C / 212 °F). Rinse once for 5–10 seconds and pour it away. Start with infusions of about 5–10 seconds and add a few seconds each round. Good leaf gives 8–15 infusions.
Mug or teapot
About 3–4 g per 250 ml, with water just off the boil. Rinse once, then steep 1–2 minutes for the first cup and a little longer for each cup after. The leaves give 3–4 cups.
Too bitter? Shorten the steep or use a little less leaf. Keep the water just off the boil.
Storage
Keep cakes in their paper wrappers, in a cardboard box, bamboo or unglazed clay, off the floor. Aim for 20–25 °C (68–77 °F) and 60–70% relative humidity, out of direct light, away from strong smells and with some airflow. For long-term aging, don't use the fridge, silica gel or airtight bags; a sealed tin is fine for the portion you are drinking now. Fuzzy or colored spots or a musty smell mean mold: don't drink it.
