Tea tree over 500 years

When we speak of "yan yun," (岩韵) the first thing that comes to mind is the characteristic of Wuyi Rock Tea from Fujian. The "yan yun" is rarely tasted in Pu'er tea. However, after many years of searching, we have also found a small amount of rare materials in Pu'er tea. This is because Mr. Chen Shenghe, the leader of Chen Sheng Hao has always dreamed of crafting top-grade Pu'er tea with the unique "yan yun." His dream came true in 2014, when he created "Zheng Yan", a raw Pu'er tea that embodies the essence of "yan yun" and hence is named "Zheng Yan."

The Zheng Yan series was introduced in 2014, at which time it consisted of six versions, from "Zheng Yan No.1" to "Zheng Yan No.6". Each is made from high-quality large-leaf ancient tree tea leaves sourced from Menghai tea region in Xishuangbanna.

In 2015, it was divided into two cakes, "Zheng Yan No.1" and "Zheng Yan No.2". This year, there is only one cake, "Zheng Yan No.1".  These tea leaves were meticulously processed according to Mr. Chen Shenghe's unique recipe.

Because these tea leaves are hard to come by and extremely precious, this tea set is one of the most limited quantities in our Chen Sheng Hao tea lineup.

Materials:

Selected come from ancient trees that are over 500 years old, and predominantly grow in rocky soil in the mountains at an altitude of over 3000 meters of Xishuangbanna, Yunnan province.

There aren't many ancient tea trees that are over 500 years old, and the selection for Zheng Yan has to meet specific requirements such as growing in rocky soil, further narrowing down the options. With only 5,000 cakes produced, it's indeed a rarity!

Taste:

Its aroma is high and long-lasting. The tea liquor is bright golden yellow, with a mellow and rich flavor. It is lively, deeply "喉韵 hou yun" (aftertaste lingers in the throat), strong chaqi, and quick huigan.

The lingering sensation in the base of the tongue is potent. It has a unique "yan yun” in Pu-erh tea, also known as "rocky taste and floral fragrance". This "yan yun" is a deep and lasting taste sensation that lingers in the mouth and is often associated with tea plants grown in gravelly sandy loam.

This tea distinguishes itself from other common Pu'er teas by its unique "yan yun," making it a must-try for tea enthusiasts. It's a unique blend that truly stands out and is worth a taste.

Customers' Tasting Experience

The taste is exceptionally mellow and thick, akin to what is often described as a "boniness in water". The tea offers a quick return of sweetness after drinking, with a long-lasting aftertaste and a notable throat rhyme. The aroma is uplifting, and enduringly rich, with a clear and mysterious fragrance when smelled cold. The tea leaves are resistant to multiple brews, with 6 grams of tea in a 250 ml lidded bowl prepared in the usual way, it can be brewed at least 15 times before it starts to fade. The quality is stable, indicating that the tea leaves are resilient to storage.
