Tea tree over 100 years

From the sweet and mellow mountains of Lincang to the rich, powerful character of Xishuangbanna, Chen Sheng Hao has spent nineteen years exploring and refining the taste of Yunnan’s finest tea mountains. In 2026, the brand introduces the first release of its new Famous Mountain Tea Series: Ma Li Po Raw Pu-erh Tea.

Sourced from large-leaf tea trees grown in the karst mountain landscape of Ma Li Po County in southeastern Yunnan, this tea captures the pure, wild character of a remote borderland tea region. High mountains, dense forests, mineral-rich slightly acidic soil, frequent mist, and a unique three-dimensional climate together create an exceptional growing environment for “Lao Shan Tea,” known for its plump buds, abundant downy hairs, rich inner substances, and naturally elegant floral-honey aroma.

Ma Li Po is home to more than 400,000 ancient tea trees over 100 years old, with over 1,000 trees believed to be more than 1,000 years old. Its largest continuous ancient tea garden covers more than 2,000 mu, mainly distributed in areas such as Mengdong and Xiajinchang. This rare ecological foundation gives Ma Li Po tea its distinctive purity, depth, and vitality.

As the only Chen Sheng Hao tea from a karst terroir, 2026 Ma Li Po Raw Pu-erh Tea carries special meaning. It combines the recognized quality of Ma Li Po “Lao Shan Tea” with Chen Sheng Hao’s nineteen years of craftsmanship in famous mountain Pu-erh production. The result is a tea with a bright, elegant wild aroma, clear mineral character, and a balanced taste that is both gentle and powerful.

Tasting Notes

The dry leaves are tightly rolled, plump, and dark with visible silver down. The aroma is fresh, refined, and layered, combining floral fragrance, honey sweetness, and a unique wild rocky note.

The tea liquor is clear and bright with a greenish-yellow color. The first sip is sweet, soft, and smooth, followed by a delicate yet lively texture. Its floral-honey aroma unfolds gradually, while the mineral-rich “rocky” character gives the tea structure and depth. The finish is long and clean, with lasting returning sweetness, mouthwatering salivation, and a lingering throat sensation.

A Rare Expression of Karst Mountain Pu-erh

Unlike the bold strength of Bulang Mountain or the gentle sweetness of Yiwu, Ma Li Po offers a unique flavor shaped by rocky mountain terrain, forest ecology, and mineral-rich soil. It presents a refined balance between freshness, sweetness, wild mountain charm, and structural depth.

As the first tea in Chen Sheng Hao’s Famous Mountain Tea Series, 2026 Ma Li Po Raw Pu-erh Tea is more than a new release. It is a tribute to the hidden ancient tea resources of southeastern Yunnan, a reflection of Chen Sheng Hao’s “one mountain, one flavor” philosophy, and a tea worth carefully tasting, collecting, and sharing.
