2018 Emperor Raw Pu-erh Tea
"Emperor" (霸王青饼) is one of the award-winning and featured raw Pu'er teas of Chen Sheng Hao, made with China Green Food certified large-leaf arbor tea tree leaves from tea mountains over 1800m high in Bu Lang Mountain. This product has been released since 2009. It is well known as a raw Pu'er tea that is as strong as its name, "Emperor", suggests.
It has a pronounced bitterness on entry, a high aroma, pronounced salivation, a sweet aftertaste, a long-lasting throat feel (hou yun) and strong cha qi. It can last for 15 steeps and still have good taste. This Pu'er tea is worth owning and revisiting after storing for years.
Dried Leaves
Dry leaves are plump, sturdy and visibly downy, with a fresh, sweet and floral smell.
Liquor Colour
Bright, clear yellow.
Taste
It has a pronounced bitterness on entry with quick huigan, pronounced salivation and a long-lasting floral aroma.
Gongfu style (recommended)
5–7 g of leaf per 100 ml, water at 95–100 °C. Rinse once for about 5 seconds and pour it away. Start with 10–15 second infusions and add a few seconds each round. Good pu-erh gives 10 or more infusions.
Western style
3 g per 250 ml cup, water at 95–100 °C, steep 3–5 minutes.
Storage
Keep the cake in a clean, dry place away from sunlight and strong smells.
