Xiao Ban Zhang Raw Pu-erh Tea: A Masterpiece of Inherited Craftsmanship

Xiao Ban Zhang is the first product made from Chen Sheng Hao's own tea garden base in Lao Ban Zhang village.

The saying goes, "Good horses are common, but a discerning judge is rare." Lao Ban Zhang is like a remarkable horse that has quietly nestled in the deep mountains for centuries, undiscovered and unknown to the world.

Chen Sheng Hao is like the discerning judge who recognized the taste advantages and value of Lao Ban Zhang tea. They introduced it to the market, and thus, Lao Ban Zhang embarked on a glorious journey.

Chen Sheng Hao and Lao Ban Zhang village have been partners for many years. The Hani people are grateful to Chen Sheng Hao for recognizing and passionately developing Lao Ban Zhang when it was still an unknown treasure in the mountains.

With thirty years of mutual recognition and collaboration, Chen Sheng Hao has given special privileges to their thousand-acre tea garden as it now thrives. As Lao Ban Zhang shares its heritage with the "Tea King," it continues to grow together.

This thousand-acre tea garden, originally cultivated by the Hani people, was nurtured with care after being entrusted to Chen Sheng Hao. The name "Xiao Ban Zhang" signifies the respect and continuation of Lao Ban Zhang’s legacy. The tea shares the same origins as Lao Ban Zhang.

The Threefold Meaning Behind the Name "Xiao Ban Zhang":

1. Respect and Humility: The tea garden was graciously entrusted by the villagers of Lao Ban Zhang. Out of respect for the "King of Tea," the name "Xiao" (small) reflects this humility.
2. Geographical Scope: The tea garden is a smaller section of the larger Lao Ban Zhang tea area, with "Xiao" symbolizing its size.
3. An Independent Creation: As the first Ban Zhang product independently crafted by the son of the founder Chen Shenghe, Chen Liubin, "Xiao" represents his respect for Lao Ban Zhang’s more than 50 years of tea-making legacy.

Tea Garden and Ecological Environment

Xiao Ban Zhang tea garden is located deep in the mountains of Yunnan, preserving its rich biodiversity. The garden enjoys a unique ecosystem, where "high mountains shelter forests, and under the forests, tea thrives." Chen Sheng Tea has not only continued the traditional planting methods of the Hani people but also invested in the construction of a modern tea-processing factory. With the strict standards of "producing tea like medicine," every leaf is crafted with precision to capture the authentic Ban Zhang flavor.

Tasting Experience

Xiao Ban Zhang has a neat, round shape, with a well-balanced pressing that releases a natural fragrance. The tea leaves are plump and sturdy, with fine silver tips, showcasing the quality of the raw materials. When brewed, the tea liquor is a bright, greenish-yellow with a thick, full texture. It has a strong and lasting sweetness, with a long aftertaste. The aroma is strong and lingers in the cup, while the tea’s strength and character leave a deep, enduring impression, reminiscent of Lao Ban Zhang’s dominance.

Heritage and Honor

Since 2008, Chen Sheng Hao has established the first large-scale tea processing base in Lao Ban Zhang Village, which remains the largest to date. For 17 consecutive years, Chen Sheng has maintained its leading position in pure Lao Ban Zhang tea sales, receiving numerous accolades such as "Tea King," "Gold Awards," and "First Prize." Xiao Ban Zhang, as part of the Chen Sheng Lao Ban Zhang series, shares the same heritage as the "King of Tea," blending traditional craftsmanship with modern techniques. It is a premium Pu-erh tea, reflecting both the majesty of Lao Ban Zhang and the meticulous artistry of Chen Sheng Hao.
